Introduction

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your Logixboard account by requiring two or more forms of verification before granting access.

Learn more about Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) here.

🔐 MFA Availability

  • MFA is available by default as an optional feature for all users.

  • In some cases, MFA may be mandatory depending on how your Logixboard platform is configured. If required, you'll be prompted to set it up after your first login.

  • To enable MFA manually:

    1. Navigate to Settings > Profile.

    2. Scroll Down until you see Multi-Factor Authentication

    3. Click on Set Up.

    4. Select Authentication App and click Set Up.

    5. Download an Authenticator App on your device. (We recommend Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Duo Mobile, or Authy).

    6. Scan the QR Code shown in the Logixboard platform using your authenticator app.

    7. Enter the 6-digit code generated by your app and click Next.

    8. And Voila! You've setup MFA 🔐

🧰 Troubleshooting MFA Issues

Here are some common problems and how to fix them:

1. MFA Code Not Working

The date and or time on your mobile device might be incorrect or not in sync.

  • Go to your phone’s Date & Time settings.

  • Ensure “Set Automatically” or “Use Network Time” is enabled.

  • Reopen the Authenticator app and try again.

2. Lost or No Access to Authenticator Device

If you’ve changed your phone or lost access to the Authenticator device, you may be able to recover your codes. This typically requires backing up your MFA config on the old device and transferring it to the new device, or syncing your authenticator settings to the cloud. Please note that if you lose your device and do not have a backup or cloud syncing enabled for your authenticator app, you will lose access to your account; contact an administrator to have a new account created.

For more information on best practices, see this article from the National Cybersecurity Alliance.

3. Locked Out After Too Many Attempts

Entering the wrong code too many times can temporarily lock your account.

  1. Wait for a few minutes and try again.

  2. If you're still locked out, reach out to the Admin for help.

4. Unable to Scan QR Code

Your phone camera isn't working, or the QR code on the screen is blurry or not displaying correctly.

  • Adjust your screen brightness or clean your phone’s camera lens.

  • If scanning doesn’t work, click the 'Copy Secret Key' displayed below the QR code and Copy

  • Paste the secret key into the app. This will set up MFA without needing to scan the code.
