ACT WriteBack allows you to opt in to have Automated Container Tracking (ACT) data be written back to your CargoWise. The following provides a description of each milestone and the CargoWise location.

1. Empty Released from container yard

This is the first thing that happens with a shipment. There is an empty container, the carrier gives it to the shipper and then the shipper goes to fill it up.

  1. The workflow event code for this is GOU, the event reference will say TYP=CY.

  2. Consol → Containers → Export Process → Empty Released from CY

2. FCL Wharf Gate In

Once the container is full the shipper brings it back to origin port and gives it to the carrier.

  1. The workflow event code for this is GIN, the event reference will say TYP=CTO.

  2. Consol → Containers → Export Process → FCL Wharf Gate In

3. FCL loaded

The carrier has the full container in the port, container then put on vessel. This can be associated with departure, even if loosely. The assumption is that shortly after the container is loaded on the vessel, it will leave. However, this is not necessarily the same day.

💡 Note that there is a general assumption is that 2 to 3 days after the container is loaded it will leave. ACT WriteBack gives you more information on departure by letting you know when the full container is loaded on the vessel).

  1. The workflow event code for this is FLO.

  2. Consol → Containers → Export Process → FCL Loaded

4. FCL unloaded

After the vessel arrives at destination, the vessel berths at a terminal, attaches to the dock, and crane moves the container off the boat. There is an association between arrival at destination and unloading the boat.

💡 Note that this is unlikely to be the same date and can even take a week due to congestion. Essentially the container is unloaded and sitting in the dock. ACT Writeback gives you more information on arrival by letting you know when the full container is unloaded off the vessel.

  1. The workflow event code for this is FUL.

  2. Consol → Containers → Import Process → FCL Unload

5. CTO available

The port says the full container is ready to be picked up and can be loaded on a truck.

  1. The workflow event code for this is CAV.

  2. Consol → Containers → Import Process → CTO Available

6. Wharf gate out

Someone picks up the container and it leaves the port (it is no longer in the port).

  1. The workflow event code for this is GOU, the event reference will say TYP=CTO.

  2. Consol → Containers → Import Process → Wharf Gate Out

7. CTO storage start

This is the first day the container will begin to accrue fees. The day after Last Free Day (LFD). The container needs to be moved to avoid/minimize fees.

  1. No workflow event

  2. Consol → Containers → Import Process → CTO Storage Start

8. Empty returned on

When a shipper receives their goods, they empty the container, and this is the date they bring it back to port.

  1. The workflow event code for this is GIN, the event reference will say TYP=CY.

  2. There will also be an additional DHR workflow event.

  3. Consol → Containers → Import Process → Empty Returned On
