External Agent Order Milestone Updates

Overview

This feature allowd external agents to update estimated and actual milestone dates for orders directly within Logixboard. Once submitted, milestone updates are written back to CargoWise, keeping both systems synchronized.

This feature is particularly beneficial for customers who manage their operations through Orders rather than Bookings, including many APAC and Australian organizations.

Note: This feature is controlled by an optional feature flag. Contact your Customer Success Manager or Logixboard Support to enable it for your organization.


Before You Begin

To update order milestones, you must:

  • Be logged in as an External Agent user

  • Have access to the order

You must have the External Agent Order Milestone Updates feature enabled for your organization


Update Order Milestones

Step 1: Go to the Orders module

In the Orders Explorer, select the order you would like to update.

Click All Milestones in the leaflet to the right.

Step 2: View Milestones

You'll be taken to the Shipment details page.

In the Order Details section, click View Milestones to display the milestone timeline.

Step 3: Edit Milestones

Click Edit Milestones.

Each editable milestone displays fields for:

  • Estimated Date

  • Actual Date

You may update one or multiple milestones before saving.

Step 4: Enter Milestone Dates

Enter the appropriate Estimated and/or Actual dates for each milestone you want to update

Estimated dates can be updated as plans change.

Actual dates should only be entered once the milestone has occurred.

Step 5: Confirm Your Changes

Click Save.

A confirmation dialog appears before the updates are submitted.

If an Actual date is being submitted, the dialog warns that the milestone will become locked after submission.

Click Confirm to continue.

Step 6: Synchronization

After confirmation, Logixboard writes the milestone updates back to CargoWise.

Once CargoWise processes the update, the milestone information is synchronized between both systems.


Understanding Milestone Locking

Milestones behave differently depending on whether an Actual date has been recorded.

Estimated Dates

Estimated dates remain editable until an Actual date is submitted.

Actual Dates

Once an Actual date is saved:

  • The milestone becomes locked.

  • The milestone can no longer be edited within Logixboard.

  • Any future corrections must be made directly in CargoWise.

If CargoWise already contains an Actual date for a milestone, that milestone is automatically locked in Logixboard.


Best Practices

  • Update Estimated dates whenever expected timelines change.

  • Only submit Actual dates when the milestone has been completed.

  • Review milestone information carefully before confirming, as Actual dates cannot be edited afterward.


Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I edit a milestone?

A milestone becomes read-only once an Actual date exists, either because it was submitted through Logixboard or already exists in CargoWise.

Can I edit an Estimated date after saving it?

Yes, as long as an Actual date has not been recorded for that milestone.

Can I unlock a milestone?

No. Locked milestones cannot be edited in Logixboard. Changes must be made directly in CargoWise.

Do milestone updates sync with CargoWise?

Yes. Submitted milestone updates are written back to CargoWise to keep both systems synchronized.

Can I update multiple milestones at once?

Yes. Multiple milestone updates can be submitted in a single save action before confirming your changes.
